Panning while drawing a line/spline
METHOD 1: If you want to be able to pan while creating a line/spline press "i" on the keypad while drawing. The "i" key only needs to be pressed once just after vertex placement. METHOD 2: This method is a workaround which needs 10 seconds worth of set up time everytime you start 3ds MAX Design or 3ds MAX. When begining a new project follow these steps. 1. Create a rectangle in the view 2. Convert the rectangle to an editable spline 3. Enter vertex sub-object 4. In the modify panel search for the check box called "Automatic Welding" 5. Tick the check box 6. Change the "Threshold" to 1mm 7. Delete the rectangle. Now Automatic Welding is set up! When drawing lines make sure you do the following. 1. Press the line button 2. Turn off start new line ----- make sure you do not have another line selected! 3. Make sure you have 2.5D or 3D snap on with vertex and endpoint checked on 4. Start placing vertex points 5. Pan using the middle mouse button----the line will stop drawing dont worry about this! 7. Snap to the endpoint or last vertex just placed. 8. Continue placing vertex points 9. Press Esc twice to cancle the line drawing process. 10. Select the line 11. Enter the vertex sub object mode 12. Check to see if the lines are welded together and that only one yellow vertex exists.
